Dutch seed potato company HZPC Holland has acquired 100 % ownership of the Finnish company HZPC Sadokas. The Dutch company previously owned 41,3 % of the shares. HZPC Sadokas has a subsidiary in St. Petersburg and is the single biggest western seed potato company in the Russian market. Natural Resources Institute Finland has published the results of January's potato storage survey. According to the statistics there were 87 000 tons of ware potato in storages on the 15th of January. This is significantly lower than in 2015 and 2014 when the estimates were 127 000 and 146 000 tons respectively. Finnish Potato Growers will have their own association for cooperation and promotion as of Thursday the 21st of January. The association's founding meeting will be held on that day during Finnish Potato Research Institutes winter seminar. The new organization is supposed to actively promote Finnish potato to consumers and buyers as well as support potato research. The organization will receive seed funding from the Finnish state....

Central European potato markets are still quiet even though there is export demand from some Eastern European countries.
